Fort Sill, where the Trump administration plans to indefinitely detain 1,400 immigrant and refugee children starting in July, has always been a violent place. Before it was an internment camp for Japanese immigrant men — including Kanesaburo Oshima, who was shot and killed by a guard in 1942 — it was a prisoner of war camp for members of the Chiricahua Apache tribe, as well as a boarding school where Indigenous children were subjected to cultural genocide. It's time for that violence to end. That's why we must speak out and show up to protest the incarceration of migrant children and families. Please join us at Fort Sill this Saturday, 6/22, if you can! #NeverAgainIsNOW #TsuruForSolidarity #StopRepeatingHistory #KodomoNoTameNi #NoCampsNoCages #CommunitiesNotCages #AbolishICE Posted @withrepost@roundrockcollective Repost @denshoproject ... • Happy #Juneteenth! There were two years between the Emancipation Proclamation and our so-called freedom. That's why I'm clear that we cannot depend the state to save us. So instead, I am conjuring the magic, strategy and aspirational visioning of my ancestors, who knew another world was possible. We'll keep fighting until we are all free. And today, we can show up for Black folks with material support. Who are the Black-led organizations we should be funding right now?👇🏾 #AbolishICE #AbolitionNow #DecrimNow 🎨: @r29unbothered Happy #juneteenth! THIS is my dad! Nervin Coronado. He’s a super cool, funny, supportive, hardworking and an INCREDIBLY smart, amazing DAD! We want people to know HIM, he is more than just an immigrant. My mom wants his hard work and accomplishments to be recognized, as he deserves, so here they are:
•graduated with a Bachelor’s with Magna Cum Laude honors (see video of me screaming my head off)
•was inducted into his School of Professional Studies’ Honors (see video) •He also received an award for such Honors
•He was placed on the Dean’s list in the spring and fall of 2018 (see certificates)
•He was inducted into the Tau Sigma Academic Honors society (see certificate)
•He received a certificate for Latin Honors (not attached)
•He maintained a 3.9-4.0 GPA his entire time at SUNY Old Westbury, while simultaneously being a full time dad, working full time and making his way to district manager from a sales representative in only 7 MONTHS!
#JUSTICEFORNERVIN
My dad is an outstanding member of society and contribution to his community! He’s just as American as you and I, and a MODEL AMERICAN at that. He came from the Dominican Republic as a child, lived in the Bronx in the worst period it ever existed, and he made it OUT and succeeded in the process. He is proud to be Dominican living in America and showing others they can achieve anything they put their minds and efforts into! He is a representation of what immigrants seek to achieve when they come to this country to make better lives for themselves and their families. Everything he’s done is for US! My dad told me he lost over a year of his freedom to make sure he can stay here and give me and my family a better life, and I’ll be damned if he loses any more time with us. We love and miss you Dad, we gonna make this right🙏🏽🤞🏽❤️ #JUSTICEFORNERVIN #JUSTICEFORIMMIGRANTS #IMMIGRANTSHAVERIGHTSTOO #ABOLISHICE #KEEPFAMILIESTOGETHER #justicefornervin THIS is my dad! • #SelfLove is choosing the best path and product or service on the market in each moment. It is seeing our dollars, pesos, yuan, rupees, and pounds sterling as precious and also 100% tainted and corrosive. #RadicalSelfLove is being honest to this predicament and our personal economic position -- and the choices our position affords us. Sometimes, that position doesn't afford much. That's not a radical position, just simple honesty.

There really aren't "good jobs" available for many people. It isn't like me and the people I teach haven't looked for stable positions or had them. What we've often had is emails unanswered and abusive supervisors. #MeToo. #TimesUp. #NiUnaMenos.

That's why so many of us are gigging or seeking to blend economic currencies such as #seedbanking, #foodbanking, and #timebanking. We don't want to exist in the global marketplace. We want to thrive in beloved communities where we trust our neighbors, not the walls and expensive security systems that supposedly protect us. They don't.
