(Jeanie’s origin and overall canon
will be pretty much the same,
but there will be some canon
divergence so that it’s easier
to interact with her.)
Jean Grey was very young when she first discovered her mutation, not having even entered her double digits yet. She first discovered her telepathic abilities when her best friend, Annie, was struck by a speeding car while riding her bike. The young Jean linked her mind with her dying friend, and thus, for the first time, experienced what it was like to die.
Distressed, Jean sent out a psychic signal, one which was caught by two who would become intertwined with her life forevermore. The first was her would-be teacher, Professor Charles Xavier of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. The second was a cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force, a multiversal being with godlike power.

Years passed, and Jean’s abilities only grew with time. After so long being bonded with the Phoenix, Jean, always wary of its power following her transformation into Dark Phoenix, decided that she would no longer draw on the power of the cosmic being. She hoped that, with this decision, more lives would be saved rather than destroyed at her hands.
However, following the Decimation by Thanos; Jean, suffering from the mental backlash of so many lives lost in that universe, entered a comatose state for a year. Following her awakening, she entered a depressive state, knowing that she could have stopped this with her power, yet refusing to take the chance. And so she remains, constantly at war within herself, whether or not to once again don the mantle of the Phoenix...
