Today my beautiful daughter Kristin started 24/7 hospice care. A day we had never imagined would happen to our brave warrior. She has fought so very hard.
The past three weeks since Kristin’s Christmas hospital stay at Jacobs Medical Center - UCSD have been very difficult. The December scans to evaluate the personalized cancer vaccine clinical trial at UCSD - Moores Cancer Center showed significant disease progression. The personal vaccine is not working for Kristin, and the cancer has rapidly metastasized. The vaccine trial is completed. Kristin’s condition is critical.
Kristin is now receiving care from Hospice at home. We are keeping her comfortable and pain free. Wyatt is by her side 24/7. Our immediate family is surrounding her with so much love. Our dear Three Arch Bay neighbor friends are very present, and keeping Heaton engaged and active. We are so grateful for their consistent loving support. Dr. Aunt Caryl left this morning but will be back next week with Uncle Stephen. Caryl is our rock. Ken arrived today, a rock, and Heaton’s after school tutor. Allison and Josh with their sweet little girls, Meera and Nadiya, will be here tomorrow. Next week Aunt Letha and Uncle Paul. It does take a village. Each day I search for a moment of joy. Difficult to find one today. Thank you for keeping Kristin in your hearts and prayers. I know she can feel the love every day. We can all feel it. Each day is a gift.
We walked together on the beach that day to find some treasure from the sea & the thing I remember best is laughing at how everything we found we
threw back so someone else could find it, because we already had all
the treasure we could hold. - Brian Andreas
From the morning before the event started, I’ve gotten to hang out with this amazing coach, teacher, and mentor of mine.
Not only that—here I am in Laguna Beach getting to be around the most inspired people who are running their own businesses just like me.
What I didn’t expect was how much I would be teaching here. I came to learn. I love learning so I can teach others.
But if we learn and never share what we’ve learned, what good is it? And we can take all the courses, read all the books, but until we take action, we don’t really get the lessons.
So I’m living my lessons, and I’m sharing them too. I’m okay with not being perfect. I’m okay with changing course. And I’m grateful. Grateful for all of it.
And I’m in a room with 280 of my new best friends. Friends that I felt called to teach about writing great copy, friends that I’ve felt called to share my secrets of how I’ve built my business, and friends with which I’ve felt called to share some deep personal struggles.
The world needs more communities like this. We need this kind of connection. This is why I do what I do. This is why I have a practice. And this is why I teach other practice owners how to do the same.
Connection is how you build and grow your business. How have you connected today?
