  • 23 years ago today @2pac arrived at Los Angeles Criminal Court to attend a hearing on whether he violated his probation, stemming from the 1994 battery and gun possession convictions on March 21, 1996. Tupac’s hearing was later postponed until the next Wednesday. Here’s a photo of Tupac and his personal bodyguard and friend, the late Frank Alexander smiling as they leave court. • 24 years ago today @nydailynews journalist Chrisena Coleman published her article
"Shakur's Lifestyle Is A Hard Cell Upstate" on March 16, 1995. Here’s an excerpt from the story. "Rapper @2pac has moved his act into a 6-by-9-foot cell at Clinton Correctional Facility, the Daily News has learned. According to prison sources, Shakur moved last week into the tiny cell furnished only with a twin bed with a thin mattress, a toilet and a sink. He spent his first day in the general population but was quickly transferred to protective custody the next day "for his own good," sources said. State Department of Correctional Services spokesman Jim Flateau said Shakur will dine on the same food the other inmates get and will wear the same green uniform as his fellow felons. Shakur can wear some of his own shirts, but no hat. The rapper is serving a 4 1/2-year sentence for falsely sexually abusing a 21-year-old woman in a Manhattan hotel. The day before Shakur was found guilty, he was shot and left for dead outside a Manhattan recording studio. Rikers Island sources said Shakur was in protective custody for his entire stay at Rikers. "We didn't have any problems out of Tupac," said the source. "He was sweet as pie, there were no signs of him being a thug." " In a recent interview, Shakur's attorney, Michael Warren, told the Daily News that his client is doing "as well as can be expected. " But Warren said Shakur insists the charges are not true, and an appeal has been filed." • 26 years ago today @2pac filmed his guest appearance on the Emmy-winning sketch-comedy series ”In Living Color” (Season 5, Episode 3) on March 13, 1993. The skit ”Concert security guards don’t recognize headliner Tupac Shakur” featured @iamjamiefoxx and @therealtommycat as the security guards. Later Tupac is arrested for allegedly assaulting a limosine driver and released on $15000 bail. Here’s an excerpt from ”Tupac Shakur: The Life and Times of an American Icon.” ”Tupac was in Hollywood to film a guest appearance on ”In Living Color”, a popular variety show. When the director told everyone to take a break, Tupac and his friends, hung out in a rented limo, which was parked in the Fox Television parking lot. The driver, David Deleon, said that the men started smoking weed in the car. When he asked them to stop, Tupac and one of the guys, attacked him. Tupac said the after words were exchanged, Deleon headed for the trunk of the car and he assumed that the driver was going to get a gun. Tupac was arrested for assaulting Deleon and released in $15000 bail. Tupac later explained that ”we didn’t know if the guy was getting a gun or what.” A judge agreed and the charges were dropped.” What’s your favorite television appearance by Tupac?
